The return visit
One family visited the cabins this past season who was making their first return visit in 45 years! Orley (Bud) and Valery Wise and their daughters last visited in 1978. In June 2023 three generations returned: Valery, her youngest daughter Michelle & husband Ralph, and two of Michelle’s sons, Seth and Danny. Bud Wise passed away in 2021.

The picture of just the cabin (Kolme, No. 3) was taken in 1975. I haven't been back there since the late 70's. Coming to the cabins was my all time favorite time of year and some of my greatest memories. Since my boys all love the outdoors and fishing, I wanted to "gift" them your family's slice of heaven. I wanted them to have a place to gather as brothers and a place to gather with their families in the coming years. Having my mom decide to come with us this year (especially on the anniversary of my dad's passing) was a bonus for our family and a fresh breath of air for her. She's still talking about it. She just turned 91. We are looking forward to visiting again with our oldest son and his family, as well. Can't thank you enough for your hospitality. We all made some more great memories!
Michelle’s son Nate missed the reunion due to the birth of his daughter Celeste but hopes to make the next trip to the cabins.
What a joy to host this family again, reminisce about days gone by, their love for Bud, and being together again in Michigan.
