Start today

When I’m down, frustrated, angry, or uninspired, I write. The act of thoughtfully stringing words together has always been magic to me. It’s as if my pain lessens by spilling my heart onto a page.

I am also a big fan of podcasts and include Rachel Hollis among my favorites. Her “start today” mantra has always picked me up from the depths of despair even during the most challenging times.

The idea of “start today” is to narrow down your focus and begin each day with gratitude, intention, and a short list of your biggest dreams. Writing your dreams as if they have already happened is an interesting trick to both generate and attract the energy to make them come true.

Rest and rejuvenation are part of the process, too, and may be the real place to start. As the old saying goes, when we feel tapped out, it’s a hint to refill our own glass. We have to take care of ourselves before we can take care of others and the array of demands on our time and energy.

Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Find joy in the journey.
