Dock sitting

Ahhhhh…let’s talk about the sheer pleasure of sitting on a dock. There’s something infinitely attractive about being able to walk over water and jut out into a lake and take it all in. You feel part of it.

There are lots of ways to enjoy:

😎 dangling your feet in the cool water, with the ripples and occasional boat wake tickling your toes

😎 laying down facing the sky, watching the clouds roll by and feeling a fresh breeze on your face

😎 plopping down on a beach towel and letting the warm sun dry you after a swim

😎 casting a line in and waiting for a nibble

😎 just sitting, listening, and watching the world go by

Like the romantic fascination of living on a houseboat, docks seem to beckon to us. Of course, they serve the practical purpose of mooring boats and loading and unloading, but docks also give us an opportunity to take a time out. Perhaps it’s not a coincidence that we also call the devices where laptops, smartphones and digital cameras are placed for charging, a “docking” station. It’s where they go to sit and recharge.

Whether solo or in the company of friends, dock sitting is equally enjoyable. It doesn’t matter what age or breed you are (dogs like docks, too!), docks are the place to be.
